15 million years ago, the iconic Sandberg right over the Slovak border formed the coastline of the late tertiary sea. Today, shark teeth, turtle shells and other relics can still be found scattered in its dunes. Appreciating this prehistoric significance (and far-reaching view into the Austrian Marchfeld) we slowly follow our trail up the slopes. Standing tall at 514m, the Devínska Kobyla peak generously rewards us with a jaw-dropping panorama over three (some say even four) countries.
Walking downhill through a decommissioned Soviet-era missile base, we soon re-enter pristine forest surroundings in search for the mystical White Rock - and eventually visit the remains of Villa Rustica, an ancient Roman spa presiding over the Veľká lúka plains. Net hiking time will be ~3 hours.
Underway we'll have fun with ice breakers, discussion prompts and local trivia.
Before returning to Vienna, we'll enjoy a casual group dinner inside the nearby Bory Mall food court with plenty of Slovak/international delicacies at your own taste and budget - or just bring your own food.

A hosted hiking trip into nature with plenty of socializing and fun. While exploring some of the best trails in the region, we enjoy learning about Austria and each other's countries.
All our events are recreational, so average fitness is fine. They are not advisable for people with heart or lung issues though. We also thank everyone in advance for not smoking during our events.
Usually we're a mix of professional Vienna expats and Austrians with international background. Sometimes there's also travellers or digital nomads. Average age ranges between 25 and 55. Unfortunately, dogs or other pets are not permitted at our events. If we're lucky, we might spot some wildlife underway though.
